Technology in the classroom (Portfolio piece 6)

                          A video can be very useful in a classroom. the teacher can easily download one from the internet but whats the fun in that. the videos from the internet maybe of higher quality but a video created by the teacher will better describe what he/ she would love to discussing in his/her lesson. videos can be created in windows movie maker or a movie maker soft ware can be downloaded from the internet. Videos manually created can improve the class room instruction in the following ways:

• allows teachers to use pictures and clips students can relate to
• teachers can allow student to collect images and clips to create a video for them self  as a class activity(depends on the class and stage of development)
• students will be more interested in the videos the teacher created than those downloaded from the internet
• the video can be used to bring the excitement to students. (if students are not able to visit a specific destination the teacher can use a video to bring the destination to students. taking students on a field trip without leaving the classroom).
• the video can be used to give instructions and guidelines
• the video can be used to incorporate ASSURE model lesson plan 

Reflection

for this piece we had to create a movie. the movie was created in windows movie maker and publish it to the blog. the piece will be used in the classroom as a exercise to identify business in Antigua. the piece will be shown within the classroom discussion when i am going to demonstrate different types on business. in creating this piece i faced some challenges:

• finding appropriate picture
•  understanding how to incorporate images
• getting the appropriate music
• getting the music to fit my piece
• posting video to blog 

the piece could have been improved in the following ways:

• placing more images and less word in piece
• using more familiar business places
• shorter video
• better organization of video

Reflection for wiki

for portfolio piece seven (7) a Google site was created.the biggest challenge faced while creating the site was gathering information on how to create the site. the information was recovered from the web and the instruction gave clear guidelines as to how the site should be created. the guidelines also proved guidelines as to how to add pages images and videos. once the site was created learning how to manipulate it to my best interest was a walk in the park. it only took about three hours to complete the task at hand.
     The piece could have been improved in the following ways:

• using more pictures on the third page
• adding more pages with more related information
• giving other individual opportunities to edit my site
• advertising the site more  

using technology to improve education

A Wiki or a Google site can be powerful tools. Teachers in Antigua and around the world should use these tools in there lessons. As long as the teacher is computer literate and has access to the internet the creating the tool is easy; the best thing is its free. no cost to the teacher or the school but very beneficial. As the education system moves more and more away from teacher centered class rooms and to student centered class room tools such as wiki's and Google site's can be very helpful.
                                   On the Google site i created i uploaded videos sites and previous classroom instruments crested. I added pictures, videos and additional pictures. The site is easy to manipulate and it time it takes to complete task is are unbelievable.be free to be my site https://sites.google.com/site/joshuanette/home teachers who have more than one class can create multiple sites in the matter of hours. the sites can be used as host for podcast, allowing students to add interesting videos, web sites, articles, pages and any other valuable asset found on the internet. the site allows students to leave comments and once the teacher give students permission they can also help with the maintenance of the site. The site holds countless opportunities that both the students and teacher will enjoy.
                                    The possibilities are endless. these sites can improve the teaching learning process in countless ways. the sites allow students to express there views and share ideas. it allows for an extended classroom. The site could be used as a portal for teachers and students to communicate outside of the classroom. the site can also be used to help keep students who missed classes aware of the missed actives. students can download homework and submit then on the site. the site can be used to keep parents updated on class room activities. the site can be used in anyway necessary to transmit information. all the above listed uses of a wiki or Google site will improve knowledge getting process.
                                   Once the instructions and appropriate guidelines are given to students using the site to will be as easy as taking candy from a baby. the students will be able to complete task and use the site in a useful manner.

What do the scores tell me?

In order to provide you with a meaningful comparison, the scores you received have been converted to "percentile scores." This means that your personality score can be directly compared to another group of people who have also taken this personality test.
